Thanks for your info...I was given a pair of saffron finches, and I am in the process of setting them up in a large flight cage in the hopes that they feel comfortable enough to breed. They appeared to be quite stressed in the small cage they were in. I have had success in the past breeding small hookbills ie: Red Rumps, Pacific Parrotlets, orange Fronted Conures, and Zebra finches.

I just found the link to your site and I am very happy with it. I am a novice finch owner. I currently have Zebras, an Owl male & Gouldian male. I plan to get mates for both males. I now know my home is too cool for them. For utilitiy billing purposes I keep my home at 60 degree when we are away or at night while sleeping. I will increase the heat to 65 degress during those time. I also have learned to give eggs. I will continue to read and research in order to keep my babies healthy. I love them. This is a wonderful site!
thank you

I just adopted a european goldfinch. She's blind in her left eye and her buddy in rehab will be coming home to us as well in about a week. We've had birds in the past, but no finchs. Thank You for your site to give us insite and information on the breed and their needs.

Congratulations for your site. I think it's the most informative, and most beautiful website about finches. There are a lot of interesting articles. I learned very much of them.
I have a website about finches too, but it's in Hungarian. It contains mainly translated articles. I would like to ask for your permission to publish some of your articles' translations. Would you be so kind to contact me at my email address.

Thank you so much for your website. I found it very very hepfuf, as I have 4 zebra finches (one is white) and a cordon blue finch (his mate died last year). I really enjoy them and I am looking to enlarge their cage and maybe get a few more. Your website has allowed me to be more knowledgeable about giving my birds the best? Thanks again.

Excellent site. Very helpfull. I myself have been around finches for many years. I have them in my 70feet long by 8feet wide by 8 feet tall aviary. Many plants and trees. Water fountain for them to drink and natural grass. I have different species including orange weavers. They love weaving their nest on the branches of trees. Lay about 2 blue eggs once a year. Well keep up the good work. I have learn alot from your site.

Nice site, enjoyed my visit and reading about the green singers, mine layed white eggs and laid them alternate days as in every other day, I was trying to find out if this was normal but there is no information as to when they lay their eggs or how long between each egg being laid, anyway great site keep up the good work I may send some photos of the babies if they are successful and hatch out ok,
reply : Information about egg laying can be found in the Breeding section in the article "Eggs (Including Clear Eggs & Egg Repair)" (). This article is not written about any one species in particular, but it does seem to apply to all species.

I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am to find your site. I used to keep and breed parrots and having been away from that for several years have found myself drawn back into the world of aviculture by finches. I have been disapointed at the lack of quality information available on the web. It seems finches are very often overlooked for their larger, more common cousins the parrots.
I have started to acquire some breeding stock of gouldian finches and loved the genetics info you have (Thanks!) I have been trying to find somehwere that would explain it. I found the free gouldian finch genetics software but didn't quite understand how to properly use it since I was not familiar with the terms such as single factor, double factor and so forth. Thanks to you genetics section I have a little better understanding of how everything interrelates.
Thanks again!
